MCA Members and Colleagues,
Last Friday Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer released a new Executive Order (EO 2020-59) allowing the reopening of some business sectors as long as strict safety and social distancing guidelines are able to be followed. Initially it looked as if carwashes could open based on Section 7A. However, on Monday a clarification was made stating that only fully automatic unmanned washes are allowed to be open.
The MCA feels that exterior car washing can be done safely to support vehicle sanitation efforts if employers follow the guidelines set out by the CDC. The MCA is currently looking into additional legal remedies in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio to support our regional carwash operators during this time.
